Risograph.
In 2022, I began incorporating the risograph printing process into my work, experimenting with techniques ranging from two- and three-color hand-drawn designs to full-color CMYK separations.
From 2023 to 2025, I served as president of the UA RisoClub, where I focused on building community, facilitating outreach, and promoting knowledge about the risograph medium.
In 2024, I collaborated with the UAMA Mapping Q initiative to lead an eight-week workshop in which participating youth learned how to design for risograph printing and applied those skills to produce their own zines.
The nature of the risograph printing process can often times be unpredictable, the color layers can begin to misalign either intentionally or by quirks in the process. These results are often my favorite outcomes; a thing that happened outside of my control, and that has it's own compelling beauty and presence.
The UA Book Arts and Letterpress Lab offers over a dozen risograph ink colors to choose from. Imagery can be printed using various ink combinations, resulting in a wide range of color outcomes from the same source imagery.
